Monaco’s Royal Wedding

Two weeks after the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the British royal wedding fever has probably eased off and the world will now have its eyes and ears set on the next royal wedding, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and Charlène Wittstock, scheduled on the 1st and 2nd of July (talk about ‘peer pressure’!).

Just like Kate Middleton, Charlène Wittstock is a ‘commoner’, a daughter of a sales manager and swimming instructor. She met HSH Prince Albert II back in year 2000 at an international swimming competition held in Monaco.  Charlène, a South African former Olympic swimmer, would be expected to live up to her iconic mother-in-law, the late Princess of Monaco Grace Kelly. She would be the first Princess Consort of Monaco in almost 30 years since the passing of Grace Kelly in 1982.

Unlike the Duchess of Cambridge, Charlène Wittstock had already announced her wedding dress designer and it’s going to be Armani.  While Armani is tight-lipped about the wedding dress, French magazine Point de Vue on the other hand, showcased possible wedding visions for this upcoming royal celebration in a series of sketches that are royal and regal.

We are definitely looking forward to the next Royal Wedding fever! It would be a great time to visit Monaco in June and July as the country gears up to the wedding with a series of festivities. For more details, you can check out the Monaco Tourism Site.
